Are you attending PLA 2024 in Columbus, Ohio? I am, and of course, so are many of my OCLC colleagues! I'll hope to see you there. Here are some DDC- and cataloging-related highlights of the conference.
Increasing Religious Equity by Reclassifying Dewey 200’s (Friday, April 5, 2:15 pm-3:15 pm, GCCC B230-235)
As hinted at previously on this blog, I'm on this panel, along with librarians from Lawrence Public Library (KS) and Springfield City Library (MA). We'll be discussing the alternative arrangement for the 200s, which organizes religious subjects more equitably by chronology and geography, rather than centering on Christianity. See the PLA Program Page for details.
In-Person AskQC Office Hours (Amy Kimpton Boardroom, 4th floor, Tower 402, Hilton)
Cynthia Whitacre and Kate James from OCLC’s Metadata Quality team will be available to answer your cataloging questions and provide you with an overview of OCLC’s cataloging resources. - Wednesday, April 3, 10:00 am-11:00 am
- Thursday, April 4, 3:30 pm-4:30 pm with Dewey Editor Alex Kyrios
- Friday, April 5, 9:00 am-10:00 am
