I am delighted to announce that Kathryn Becker joined us this week as our second Editor in Residence. She will be in the position for six months. I will be working with her to identify a topic area that she will focus on, though she will also be contributing to regular editorial work. She is currently considering examining Western bias, religious bias, or LGBTQ+ topics as her focus area.
Kathryn graduated from Texas Woman’s University last year with an MLIS and a concentration in cataloging and technical services. She has worked in education in various roles for the past 10 years.
Thanks to the US Navy and Department of Defense, she has lived on both coasts of the US, plus Italy and Singapore, with her husband of 30 years. She is also a mother to two adult children, who live and work in Texas, and one Italian dog who will do anything for pasta.
I hope you’ll be hearing more from Kathryn in her own words here on the blog, and otherwise see her handiwork in some of the exciting developments we have planned in the DDC world this year. Welcome, Kathryn!
