The position description and application form for next summer's Dewey Decimal Intern position is now available! We'll be very excited to have another intern joining us here in the editorial office.
Although the position description says "work from home," the intern will need to be present at the editorial office at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. Applicants must be current students or recent graduates (LIS graduate students preferred). The position is paid and consists of twelve weeks of full-time work during the summer; the dates are flexible depending on the intern's schedule. We will be contacting candidates for interviews at the end of January and we plan to notify applicants of our decision by the end of February. When submitting your application, please highlight any work experience or coursework where you have used Dewey or learned about classification principles.
Just like last year's intern, Emily Zinger, the 2020 intern will take on an editorial role, researching subject areas that need revision in the DDC and proposing additions and/or changes. This internship is a great opportunity to learn the details about how the world's most widely used library classification is maintained and improved every day!
