The work of the Dewey editors was featured in OCLC's main blog (OCLC Next) for the first time yesterday, with a post titled "The Dewey Decimal Classification needs you!" It's exciting to share the considerations that we put into the changing the DDC with a broader audience.
If you're persuaded to be a part of the editorial work, for the reasons laid out in that blog post, or just because you want to provide a better scheme for your own library users, we have a new site (https://oc.lc/deweycontributors) which brings together the resources available to those who want to contribute to editorial efforts. The site collocates an overview of procedures for proposing changes to Dewey, examples of previous proposals, and a new community forum where people can ask the editors questions about the process of proposing changes or ask for feedback from other contributors. We invite everyone to participate to the extent they wish, and we look forward to many excellent collaboration opportunities in the future!
