Recently I visited friends who live in Boring, Oregon (T2--79541). Earlier this year Boring was in the news because it partnered with Dull, Scotland (T2--4128):
Residents of the Scots village of Dull have proved they have a sense of humour by forging a plan to create formal links with the US town of Boring.
From "Scots village Dull to officially twin with US town Boring" (STV; 24 April 2012)
BORING - With a unanimous "aye" from 38 Boring residents tonight, the unincorporated Clackamas County town and a small village in Scotland became "A Pair for the Ages."
From "Boring group makes Dull decision: Partnership official with Scottish village" (Oregonian; 05 June 2012)
What a hoot! It brightened up my day no end to read this little gem. Obviously the good citizens of Boring and Dull are neither Dull nor boring, but possess a rather wicked sense of humor.
Thanks for this amusing piece Juli. To think classifiers have no time for appreciating rich tapestry of oddities that life presents us with is so wrong.
