If you're in or around the Dublin, OH, area tonight -- maybe resting up after your tour of Cornhenge? -- then you'll want to pop over to OCLC for Libbie's talk on "Dewey Decimal Classification: News and new views." Libbie will be covering Dewey activities worldwide, discussing the various translations that are underway, and explaining how to keep up with changes in the classification and how the Editorial Policy Committee works. Libbie Crawford, M.L.I.S., has held the position of Marketing Manager for Dewey Products and Services since 2000, and managed the printing of DDC 22 and successive products. She has previously served as a public and academic librarian, and as an adjunct faculty member at the School of Library & Information Studies of the University of Alabama. The talk is sponsored by the Central Ohio chapter of the American Society for Information Science & Technology (CO-ASIS&T). It's free and everyone is welcome to attend: Thursday, September 15, 2005; 6:30pm for refreshments, 7:00pm for the talk; in the Kilgour Auditorium at OCLC Online Computer Library Center, Inc. Please make reservations with Patricia Furney [Editor's note: That's "Furney," mum -- don't panic!] at pfurney@columbuslibrary.org or phone 614-361-3621.
