So it turns out that, much like myself in the '80s, the International Space Station had an attitude problem to go with its accumulated piles of dirty laundry. (What's that? Oh, okay, make that the '90s and the '00s too.) But it's mission accomplished for the crew of Discovery, as all the bags of socks have safely been returned home. The coverage of the landing on TV this morning seemed to give the impression that Earth has now been renamed GoogleTM Earth -- a canny piece of branding if ever there was one, and what a coup for the planet! The DDC number for comprehensive works on space shuttles falls under 380 Commerce, communications, transportation, at 387.8 Space transportation; for treatments from the perspective of engineering, 629.441 Space shuttles, under 629.4 Astronautics, is the one to look out for. And space stations -- tidy or otherwise -- go at 629.442.
How does perceptions of space, boundaries and centres influence and
shape the application of scientific concepts/knowledge/practices in a
social/environmental context?
