« New Provisions for Islamic Law in WebDewey | Main | Signs of Spring »

Sorry, I couldn't find a better place for this comment.

We've just received a book on designing mobile apps and webpages, specifically for the small screen (9780321884480). There seems to be no provision at all in WebDewey for this important and topical subject? We're considering 006.7(7)019 but it seems inadequate...

Rebecca Green

In WorldCat this work (Mobile Usability) has mostly been classed in 006.775 (built from 006.77 [Multimedia systems] Programming for specific types of computers, . . ., plus 5 from 005.25 Programming for handheld devices). (Note that web page design is in the class-here note at 006.7 and is thus inherited by all subordinate numbers.) Adding standard subdivision T1--019 Psychological principles as modified at 004.019 ("Class here human-computer interaction, human factors, usability") appears entirely appropriate, given the class-here note at 005.25 ("Class here programming for specific types of handheld computing devices"). My suggestion therefore: 006.775019.

Many thanks for this, Rebecca. We were on the right lines but hadn't discovered the subdivision for handheld devices. Is it possible to add additional keywords to WebDewey? If so, "mobile" would be helpful here.
