There was an interesting piece on medical tourism on National Public Radio this morning. My thoughts drifted immediately from the story at hand to the classification of specific types of tourism in the DDC. Tourism in general is classed in 910 Geography and travel; tourism in a specific place is classed with the place in 913-919. Tourism of a specific type such as medical tourism is classed with the subject. We have already mapped the LC subject heading “Medical tourism” to 362.1 Physical illness, which happens to be the interdisciplinary number for medical care and treatment.
