A process, not a product

First day in the job here, they asked me what my favorite DDC number is. (It's that kind of place.) Quick as a flash, I told them "Table 2--42615 ... always has been, always will be." At least, that's what I wish I'd said. Truth be told, I just mumbled something along the lines of "Well, the 700s, I guess there are a few good ones in there ..." Now that I've had time to reflect, I'm pleased to announce my considered preference for 177.3. Yes, the number for Truthfulness, lying, slander [and] flattery, which as you'll notice covers a variety of vices as well as a singular virtue, and which serves as the resting-place for distinguished Princeton philosopher Harry G. Frankfurt's latest bestseller. And if we ever need to assign a number to this blog (as well as the obvious one, that is), my vote is already in.
